NEW ORLEANS – Jackson State eliminated Alabama A&M with a 15-3, seven inning victory on Thursday in the SWAC Baseball Tournament at Wesley Barrow Stadium. Jackson State improves to 33-25 on the year and while Alabama A&M ends the season with a 13-44 record.

Jackson State advances to face the losing team in Thursday's Texas Southern vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff match up on Friday at 9 a.m.

Jackson State scored in the first inning when Jesus Santana doubled down the left field line to score Lamar Briggs from first.

Alabama A&M picked up two in the bottom of the second inning. Darren White scored Cornelius Woods with a sacrifice fly to center field. Eric Yarbrough picked up a RBI single to short to score Saige Benson. Woods came up big again in the third inning for the Bulldogs, collecting a RBI single up the middle to score Nolan Ramsey for his second RBI of the game.

In the fifth inning for Jackson State posted five on the Bulldogs. Bryce Brown picked up a RBI single to jump start the scoring which was followed by Wilson putting down a bunt as Briggs scored on a squeeze play. Sam Campbell and Jonah Hargroves picked up back-to-back RBI singles before Jaylan Bledsoe drew a walk to force in the fifth run of the inning.

The Tigers added two more in the sixth inning, pushing their lead out to 8-3, on Wilson singled up the middle to score Santana and Briggs.

Jackson State added seven more runs in the seventh inning, going up 15-3. Santana collected a RBI single before Wilson drew a walk with the bases loaded. Campbell emptied the bases with a three-RBI double to left center with the Tigers other two runs being forced in on a hit batter and fielder’s choice.

Wilson picked up four RBI on three hits for Jackson State while Campbell collected four RBI on two hits, including a double.

JSU starter Jevon Jacobs (6-3) threw a complete seven inning game to collect the win. Jacobs scattered three runs on 10 hits, struck out four and walked one.

Alabama A&M hurler Josh Burchell (4-9) allowed six runs on eight hits, struck out four, walked two and hit two in 4.1 innings pitched for the loss.
