NEW ORLEANS, La. – Jackson State collected a 4-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday, April 15 in the second quarterfinal match of the 2016 SWAC Women’s Tennis Championship at City Park/Pepsi Center.
Jackson State advances to face No. 1 seed Alabama State on Saturday at 9 AM.
The Tigers picked up the doubles point with Julia Angermann and Anastasia Zviahintseva defeating Virag Hollos and Rida Khalid, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. JSU’s Daria Butorino and Rebekah Adewumi collected a 6-0 victory over Anushka Sathe and Alexandra Degagne in the No. 3 doubles match.
At No. 2 singles, JSU’s Butorino defeated Orianna Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-3, while Tiger teammate Zviahintseva won 6-2, 6-3, over Sathe. Karina Ono helped the Tigers advance with a 6-1, 6-0, win at No. 6 singles over Degagne.
