PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Larissa White rebounded a shot attempt off the crossbar at the 81-minute mark to rally Alabama State past Texas Southern 2-1 Saturday night at the PV Soccer Complex. The semi-final victory marks back-to-back SWAC Soccer Championship game appearances for the Hornets.
An assist by Kailand Thompson led to a Paige Hayward goal at the 43:09 mark of the match to give TSU a 1-0 lead.
Mercedes Padilla would later respond in the second half scoring on a goal for ASU with 73:22 remaining. The assist came from Ariela Lewis who started the second half after leaving midway through the first half with an injury.
TSU ended its record setting season at 11-6-1 and advancing out of yesterday quarterfinals for the first time in school.
