Florida Relays ResultsAlabama State Univesity competed at a pair of Southeastern Conference venues over the weekend. The ASU women's 4x400m relay team made up of
Santina Williams, Kimberly Webberburn,
Alexis Ferebee and
Tatiana Etienne set the tone at the 2015 Florida Relays with a blazing victory in the 4x400m relay event cruising to a solid first place finish and a new school record time of 3:35.64 out distancing second place finisher UCF (3:39.44) by four seconds.
Paige Rankine placed seventh overall in the 5,000m run in an impressive 17:07.89.Etienne individually capturing a 15th place finish in the 800m crossing the line in 2:08.45. Artrailia Lesane finished 14th overall in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 10:42.20. The Lady 4x100m relay team (Williams, Ferebee, Desiree Horn, Dikerria Wilson) captured 11th overall with a season best time of 45.35.
The women's 4x200m relay (Williams, Wilson, Ferebee, and Kiwani Chandler) cruised to a 14th place finish in a time of 1:37.06. The 4x200m relay of Justin Davis, Ryan Hall, Devin O'Neal, and Dequarius Smith) finished 14th overall in a time of 1:25.42. The men's 4x400m took 15th overall running a season best time of 3:13.45.
Tiger Track Classic Results
Lori Davis led the way for the Hornets at the Tiger Track Classic as she finished third overall in the javelin throw with a 41.63m (136-07) mark.
Maurice Buchanan finished eighth overall in the long jump event with a leap of 6.86m (22-06.25).
Brandee Ebert took sixth overall in the 800m run crossing the line in 2:15.39.
Shakalia Williams (12:26.33) and
Sade Lavallias (12:42.24) finished ninth and tenth overall in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Twlight InviteSeveral student-athletes captured first place finishes and set new career personal best this weekend at the Mississippi College Twilight in Clinton, Mississippi. Teven Avant captured a fifth place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 11:09.34 at the Mississippi College Twilight in Clinton, Mississippi this weekend.
Devauntay Brown finished eighth in the high jump leaping a 1.95m (6-04.75)
On the women's side,
Tatiana David stole the show for the day picking up two first place finishes in the 100m hurdles and the triple jump. She ran a season best 14.25 in the 100m hurdle and a career best 39-01 in the triple jump. She also placed third in the long jump and the high jump with leaps of 17-10 and 5-01 as well as a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 30-05.
Brandi McCray earned her first collegiate win in the steeplechase with a time of 12:35.66. Sophomore
Dominique Edwards placed first in the discus with a toss of 126-10 and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 40-01.
Jasmine Robinson placed fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.03.
Darryl Jones threw a season best of 151-05 in the javelin throw. Charles Marsaw ran an 11:35 in the 3000m steeplechase for a second place finish while Trevee Kelly placed fourth with a time of 1:58.76 in the 800m run.
Jeremy Banks placed third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.77 and Marquis Prentiss posted a career best 57.52 in the 400m hurdles. Fletcher Coates posted career best times of 10.81 and 21.88 in the 100m and 200m dash, respectively.
Rice Results
The Prairie View A&M men's track & field team competed well with a strong showing on the track at the Victor Lopez Bayou Classic held at Rice University on Saturday.
Keon Campbell placed third overall in the 100 as he ran a time of 10.71. He returned to the track and placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 21.82.
Sorone Batiste finished second in a tight, 800-meter dash race as he clocked a time of
1:50.17.
Michael Prejean continued his surge of outstanding performances as he renewed his battle with UH's Isacc Williams and placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.94. Prejean also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.28 while Dannie Luckey (52.81) and Logan Williams (53.56) finished fourth and seventh, respectively in the same event.
The mile relay of Prejean, Jordan Powell, Darwin Allen and Batiste finished third as they logged a mark of 3:14.20 while the mile relay "B" team of Sydney Holt-Washington, Logan Williams, Fard Rollock and Luckey placed sixth.
Quin-Tarius Crenshaw picked up points in the high jump as he jumped 6-2 to place seventh.
On the women's side, freshman Deonca Bookman had another solid weekend as she won the 400-meter hurdles at the Victor Lopez Bayou Classic held at Rice University on Saturday.
The Allen, Texas native topped the field in a time of 58.92 as she won the event for the second straight weekend. As of now, Bookman's time of 58.54 at last weekend's Texas State Invitational ranks fourth nationally in the western half of NCAA Division I teams.
Bookman joined with Monique Green, Shaleetha Jackson and Ugonna Okpala to place seventh in the 4x100-meter relay and helped lead the Lady Panthers to a third-place finish (3:49.48) in the mile relay along with Okpala, Angela Uhegwu and Brandalyn Williams.
Jada Curbeam led the way in the field as she picked up points with a sixth-place (36-10.5) mark in the triple jump.
