BATON ROUGE, La. – Alabama A&M defeated Prairie View A&M 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) on Saturday at Clifford Seymour Gym to advance in the SWAC Volleyball Tournament. Alabama A&M improves on the season to 14-24 while Prairie View A&M finishes the year at 9-26.

Ashundria McNeal paced the Alabama A&M offense with 17 kills, six digs, three solo blocks and one block assist. Savannah Blackiston chipped in 15 putaways, six assists, four digs and two blocks while Drea Matthews tallied 14 digs, five kills, one service ace and one assist. Megan Butler dished out 31 assists, 10 digs, three kills and two aces. Rebecca Cortez collected seven digs and one ace in the match. Alabama A&M finished with a .197 (43 kills, 18 errors, 127 attempts) hitting percentage.

The Prairie View A&M offense was led by Randi Hunter’s nine kills while MoKeysha Shanklin chipped in eight kills, two digs and a solo block. Mykaeli Franklin tallied eight putaways, one dig and one block. PVAM setter Ana Kiso dished out 31 assists, six digs, four kills and one block while libero Christen Augustine collected 17 digs and two assists. Prairie View A&M posted a .179 (41 kills, 20 errors, 117 attempts) hitting percentage.

Alabama A&M will take on the winner of the Texas Southern and Southern match up at 3:00 p.m. at Clifford Seymour Gym.
