HOUSTON, Texas - No. 3 seed Alabama State University advanced to the semifinals of the 2014 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament after capturing a 64-51 victory over No. 6 Alcorn State, Thursday, inside the Toyota Center.

After trailing 24-22 at the half, ASU picked up its first lead of the game at 15:06 minute mark off of a jumper by Maurice Strong. Both teams exchanged baskets for the next six minutes before ASU's Tyrel Hunt sparked an 11-0 run to lead the Hornets to their largest lead of the half.

Four Hornets earned double-figures in the win. Waters led with 16 points, shooting 5-of-10 (50 percent) from the floor and 6-of-9 from the line (66 percent) while Page notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Friday's game against Texas Southern will be ASU's first appearance in the semifinals since the 2010-11 season in which they defeated TSU to advance to the finals and eventually win the conference tournament.
