Soccer Preview: Alcorn State

Alcorn State will look forward to a new start for the 2013 season after suffering a 2-14 (0-4 SWAC) finish last year.
The Lady Braves confidently move forward with hopes of participating in the postseason under the leadership of their returning All-SWAC forward Deborah Quaye.
Quaye led ALCN in goals (7), points (14), shots (46) and shots on goal (26). Complementing Quaye in overcoming the deficit created by their offense, Chevonne Douglas showed plenty of promise as a sophomore, finishing second on the squad in goals (8).
With her senior year on the rise, the Lady Braves look to goal keeper Ashley Murray to be a consistant force and assist in her team's defense. She ended last year with two wins after recording career highs in goals (2) and a game high in saves (20) against Lamar.
Under the direction of Christie Brandon Chambers, Alcorn State will open their 2013 slate on Sunday, Sept. 8 at Southeastern Louisiana. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
