2013 SWAC Golf Championship is Underway

ALEXANDRIA -- The 2013 SWAC Men's Golf Championships is under at Oak Wing Golf Club with Alabama State seeking back-to-back titles, while Jackson State is on the hunt to recapture the top honors.
The 2012 Freshman of the Year Kyle Bordenstine of Jackson State headlines the field. He was the low medalist among the rookies last season, finishing the three rounds with a total of 221 (75-72-76--221).
SWAC Men's Coach of the Year Gary Grandison has one first team player returning to the course from last season. Jose Rodriguez earned first team honors, tying for third overall with a score of 223 (73-74-76).
Along with Bordenstine and Rodriguez, Josh McCormick of JSU is the only other returning medalist from 2012. McCormick earned second team honors with a three round total of 232 (80-77-75).
Play continues Tuesday and Wednesday in the 54-hole event for the men's teams.
