GARLAND, Texas - No. 4 seed Prairie View A&M University advanced to its third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game upsetting No. 1 seed Texas Southern, 62-58, on Friday.

The two time defending SWAC tournament champion, PVAMU (16-14) will meet No. 3 seed Mississippi Valley State in the 2013 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament championship game on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CT.

Lady Panthers shot 40 percent from the floor with Latia Williams, Jeanette Jackson, and Kiara Etienne scoring in double figures.

Williams recorded her 21st career double-double recording 17 points while tying a game-high 12 rebounds. Jackson shot 4-of-8 for 16 points and Kiara Etienne followed with 12 points.

TSU (20-11) shot 36 percent from the floor with Te'era Williams posting a game high 21 points. Kayla West added 11 points and Morgan Simmons pulled in 12 rebounds.

The Lady Panthers took a 28-26 advantage into the locker room at the break and maintained the lead after the Lady Tigers evened the score at 48 with 3:50 remaining.

PVAMU could not extend its lead more than five points down the stretch. TSU narrowed the gap 60-57 with 14 seconds left, but Jackson's free throws secured the Lady Panthers' third consecutive trip to the title game.
