GARLAND, Texas - No. 3 seed Mississippi Valley State University moved on to the finals of the 2013 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament after defeating No. 7 seed Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 69-55.

MVSU (17-14) scored 30 points from UAPB's (13-18) miscues forcing 29 turnovers. The Devilettes held the Lady Lions to 31 percent shooting while hitting 40 percent overall. MVSU also won the match-up in rebounds, 69-55.

A'Shanti Weathers led all players with 20 points shooting 8-of-16 from the floor for MVSU. Joncyee Sanders added 11 points and dished out nine assists. Khristina Clemmons followed with 10 points and Alia Frank halued in a team high, nine rebounds.

Chigozianyi Okwumabua and Lakendra Marsh led the Lady Lions' offense. Okwumabua tallied 19 points from 7-of-13 shooting and Marsh tacked on 17 points. Rhines-Malone pulled in a game high of 10 boards.

MVSU led at the break 22-18 and built its advantage with a 16-3 run, holding a 38-23 lead with 14:59. The spurt kept MVSU out in front and leading in double figures for the remainder of the game.
