GARLAND, Texas - The No. 4 seeded Prairie View A&M University held off No. 5 seed Jackson State en route to a 66-60 win in the final game of the women's quarterfinals during the 2013 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament.
Gabrielle Scott led PVAMU (15-14) with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Kiara Etienne followed with 16 points and Latia Williams recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Beatrice Banks and Ayanna Hardy-Fuller combined to scored 30 points to power JSU (12-16).
Banks scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range and Hardy-Fuller added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Tiffany Kellum recorded seven points and 13 rebounds.
After trailing 37-26 at the break, JSU trailed 54-29 with 13:28 remaining in the game. The Lady Tigers trimmed the Lady Panthers lead down to 62-60 with 22 seconds left in the game.
PVAMU made its free throws down the stretch to preserve the win. PVAMU will match up against No. 1 seed Texas Southern during Friday's semifinal round at the Curtis Culwell Center.
