JACKSON, Miss. - In the final round of the quarterfinals, Jackson State University beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a five set battle ending with a 3-2 final score on Saturdday at the T.B. Ellis Gym.

JSU (10-20) picked up its third win in the tournament with sets of 25-21, 25-23, 9-25, 17-25, 15-7).

Paige Williams lifted the Lady Tigers with 11 kills and Mikayla Rolle finished with 10 kills. Briana Hopkins led the back line with 12 digs while Jenna Siddiqui posted 10.

JSU earned two straight victories in the first pair of matches and in the deciding contest the Lady Tigers earned six consecutive points to earn a spot in the semifinals. Kiersten Howard and Jasmine Knight each registered two points apiece to help lead JSU.

UAPB (13-23) made a strong comeback in the third set after giving up the first two. Jordan Foyer led the Lady Lions with five points while Audrey Sherles and Courtney Brand each put up four points to pick up the win.

Foyer registered a team 32 assists overall while Brand notched 20 digs.

UAPB was credited with the fourth set but fell short in the fifth in their last game of the season.
