BOX SCOREJACKSON, Miss. - Alabama State University gave Arkansas-Pine Bluff its first loss of the 2013 SWAC Volleyball Tournament with a 3-1 win on Saturday inside of T.B. Ellis Gymnasium.
ASU (23-14) extended it win streak to seven matches, including the 2013 regular season, picking up the victory from set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18.
Rachel Smith powered the Lady Hornets with a double-double leading the team with 14 kills and 16 digs. Brooke Beasley also posted a double-double she tailored 33 assists and 15 digs.
Tiara Kelley registered 12 kills while recording two digs and Ellyn Jones totaled 17 assists and six digs for Lady Hornets. Luiza Griz contributed 13 digs to push ASU ahead
With the win, ASU advances to the semifinal match-up.
Whitney Harris and Rachel Hornbuckle led UAPB (13-22) with 12 kills apiece. Jordan Foyer posted a team high of 41 assists. Courtney Brand contributed 16 digs with the Lady Lions totaling 60 digs for the match.
