JACKSON, Miss. - Texas Southern University advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 SWAC Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday at the Lee. E. Williams Athletic & Assembly Center.
TSU (14-10) picked up its second straight win including its third in a five-game span with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 26-24.
Kali Fluke had 16 kills to lead the Lady Tigers. Veronica Azubuike posted 13 kills and nine digs. Fluke earned a .519 hitting percentage while Azubuike hit 50 percent during the match. Erin Spivey led TSU's defensive efforts with a team best 10 digs.
For MVSU (9-20), Halle Gayten led the Devilettes with nine kills. Alexandria Garland chipped in 15 assists with Kayondra Hood and Athena Abary tacking on eight digs apiece.
