Southern Claims Third Straight SWAC Title

ALEXANDRIA, LA - Southern University continued to dominate SWAC women's tennis, claiming their third consecutive title with a 4-0 win over Alcorn State in the finals of the SWAC Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday. With the win, Southern earns the automatic bid the NCAA tournament May 17-28.

Southern head coach Jeff Conyers earned SWAC Women's Coach of the Year honors. Senior No. 1 Carlista Mohammed (SU) was named tournament MVP. Joining Mohammed on the All-Tournament team was Gabrielle Moore and Lois Alexis from Southern, Keti MeBuke from Alcorn State, Monica Arcos from Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Brittany Harrell from Prairie View.
