(AP) -- Justin Colvin knocked down five 3-pointers en route to 19 points and Justan Banks recorded a double-double to help Alabama A&M beat Oakwood 103-77 Tuesday night. Banks finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds for Alabama A&M, which outrebounded Oakwood 50-31. Alabama A&M (2-2) led 26-23 before closing the half on a 30-16 run to go into the break ahead 56-39. The Bulldogs shot 51.3 percent (20 of 39) from the field and made eight 3-pointers in the first half. Alabama A&M stepped up the defensive intensity in the second half. The Bulldogs held Oakwood to 34.6 percent (9 of 26) -- down from 44 percent (11 of 25) -- in the second half. Seven of Oakwood's nine makes came from 3-point range. Brandon Ellis and Green Hill chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Alabama A&M and Dave Daly led Oakwood (2-4) with 19. UAB 76, Prairie View 70 BIRMINGHAM, Ala.(AP) -- Rod Rucker scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Alabama-Birmingham used 26 second-half free throws to rally and beat Prairie View 76-70 Tuesday in nonconference action. Jordan Swing, Fahro Alihodzic and Isiah Jones had 10 points apiece for UAB (3-1). Swing, Alihoszic and Jones combined to go 16 of 16 from the free-throw line. Rucker, who was 8 of 12 from the field, could have crossed the 30-point threshold, but went just 9 of 17 from the line. Prairie View (2-4) shot 51.5 percent (17 of 33) en route to a 38-33 halftime lead. They led the entire half. UAB, however, opened the second half with 13 consecutive points to take a 46-38 lead with 14:18 left to play. The Blazers pushed its lead to as much as 11, 55-44, in the second half and didn't let Prairie View get any closer than five during the period. Oakland 71, Texas Southern 69 HOUSTON (AP) -- Travis Bader scored 23 points, including a 3-pointer in the final minute to put Oakland ahead, and the Golden Grizzlies defeated Texas Southern 71-69 Tuesday night. Bader, who was 7 for 12 from 3-point range, connected from behind the arc with 42 seconds left to give Oakland a 70-69 lead. Ryan Bass made a free throw for the Golden Grizzlies (2-3) and Texas Southern couldn't score at the end. Corey Petros scored 18 points for Oakland. Raymond Penn led the Tigers (1-4) with 22 points, making 6 of 10 from 3-point range, while Fred Sturdivant had 16 points and 10 rebounds for TSU. The Tigers hurt themselves at the free-throw line, making just 5 of 13. Texas Tech 91, Grambling St. 56 LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -- Jaye Crockett scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Texas Tech to a 91-56 win over Grambling State Tuesday night. Crockett was a force in the paint on both sides of the ball the entire game. His 360-degree slam dunk with about 4 minutes left in the first half put the Red Raiders (3-0) ahead 34-15 and ignited the crowd. Trency Jackson added 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers to put the Red Raiders up 12-6 early in the game, and Jordan Tolbert had 14 points and eight rebounds. David Copeland led the Tigers (0-5) with 15 points, and Tery Rose added 13, including five 3s. Peter Roberson scored 11 off the bench. The Red Raiders played aggressive defense all game long, picking up 17 steals and turning them into 29 points.
