Prairie View, Texas - Prairie View A&M University defeated Texas Southern, 3-1, on Tuesday in the William Nicks Building.
PVAM (9-18, 5-1) won the divisional match with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, to stay at the top of the Southwestern Athletic Conference western division.
It was PVAM's first win in three matches against their in-state rivals dropping two consecutive meetings.
Breanna McNeil recorded a career-high 25 kills for the Lady Panthers, including 10 kills in the clutch during the fourth set. Kelsey Espinosa finished with a double-double with 48 assists and 10 digs. LaKeisha Allen and Bruna Menezes led the defense with 14 digs apiece.
PVAM held a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set after dropping the third game 25-22. TSU (9-12, 3-2) held an 18-14 lead late in the game. However, PVAM bounced back to outscore the Lady Tigers 11-3 to close out the set and match. McNeil recorded five of her 25 kills during the Lady Panters' run. She also finished with a .404 attack percentage for the match from 47 total attacks.
The Lady Tigers were led by Mona Reed's 14 kills and nine digs. Jyra Churchill dished out 33 assists and Veronica Azubuike tallied nine kills and nine digs each.

JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State University moved its match streak to 11 games with a 3-1 decision over Alabama A&M on Tuesday at T.B. Ellis Center.
JSU (13-11, 3-0) handed AAMU (5-17, 3-1) its first division loss winning the match 25-19, 25-21, 25-27, and 25-22 to stay ahead of the Southwestern Athletic Conference eastern division.
Christine Edwards led the Lady Tigers and all players with 30 kills to complement nine digs. Jenna Siddiqui guided JSU with a double-double posting 48 kills and 13 digs. Keirsten Howard had 14 digs and Angelica Kelley added 11. JSU finsihed with 10 team blocks.
For AAMU (5-17, 3-1), Clairissa Moore had 17 kills and Ashley Forman dished out a team high 31 assists. Rebecca Cortez posted 13 digs and Maria Ramos chipped in 12 to lead the Lady Bulldogs' defense.
