For the 33rd time in the last 34 years, the Southwestern Athletic Conference is the top attended football conference in the NCAA Div. I-FCS.  As a league, the SWAC averaged 12,944 fans at each of its 53 home contests.

That was closely followed by the Southern Conference at 12,821 fans per contest.  The Colonial Athletic Association was third and the only other conference with an average above 12,000 fans per game.

Ironically, this average for the SWAC does not include neutral site games like the Magic City Classic, the State Fair Classic, and the Bayou Classic - three of the highest attended games in the nation.  The Magic City Classic was the highest single-game attendance figure in 2011 at 66,473.

Jackson State was the highest individual SWAC school among the rankings. The Tigers placed fifth in the nation with an average of 23,166 in attendance at its home games.
