ALEXANDRIA, LA - Two full periods and a pair of overtime sessions wouldn't be enough to settle the issue between Alcorn State and Southern University. After going scoreless, the two teams went to penalty kicks and when it was over, Southern advanced, outscoring Alcorn State 4-2 in a shootout to advance to the semifinals of the SWAC Soccer Championships on Thursday. 

Southern (5-9-1)  will face West Division top seed Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday, while Alcorn State ended there season at 6-8-1.

Southern goalkeeper Sarah Forde came up huge in the shootout, stopping two shots. She had three saves in the game.

Each team had only four shots each and combined to put five on-goal. In the shootout, Raedean Kurtz, Courtney Bahadursignh, D'Nae Capron and Alexa Miles accounted for the four Lady Jag tallies. The first shooter for Alcorn State, Jessica Salgado, was stuffed by Forde. Chavon Douglas and Kayla Power were successful on their tries, but Forde stopped Stephanie Woo Ling's shot to end the game.
