The Southwestern Athletic Conference named its football players of the week for games played November 12.
Co-Offensive Players of the Week
- Casey Therriault (QB, Jackson State)
Therriault threw for 428 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Tigers' 34-6 win at Alabama A&M. Trailing 6-0, Therriault replaced starter Dedrick McDonald and led JSU to a go-ahead touchdown on his first drive and a lead the Tigers would never relinquish. The 428 yards is the highest passing total in the SWAC this season.
- Mario Louis (WR, Grambling)
Louis caught 9 passes for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Tigers remained tied for first place in the SWAC West with a 29-25 win over Texas Southern. It was the 5th straight victory for Grambling and assured a winning season at 6-4. The 211 yards is the highest receiving total in the SWAC this season.
Defensive Player of the Week
- Cliff Exama (LB, Grambling)
Exama tallied 18 total tackles (11 solo) and secured the Tigers' 29-25 win over Texas Southern with a sack on the final drive with TSU inside the GSU 10-yard-line attempting a winning score. He had 2.5 tackles-for-loss to go with his lone sack of the day. The 18 tackles is the highest single-game total in the SWAC this season.
Newcomer of the Week
- Le'Darryae Groover (RB, Prairie View A&M)
Groover rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers remained atop the SWAC West with a 40-14 win at Alcorn State. He also caught 1 pass for 5 yards. The 95 yards rushing was the highest total this week of any running back in the SWAC.
Special Teams Player of the Week
- Chance Wilson (PK, Alabama A&M)
Wilson accounted for all of Alabama A&M's points going 2 for 2 in field goal attempts in a 34-6 loss to Jackson State. He connected on tries from 49 yards and 45 yards. The 49-yarder set an A&M school record and is tied for the longest field goal made in the SWAC this season.
