The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its football players of the week for games played Oct. 13 and 15.

Offense - Martin Gilbert (RB, Texas Southern)

Rushed for 188 yards on 25 carries and 2 touchdowns. Averaged 7.5 yards per carry in a 24-21 loss at Alabama A&M. The 188 yards rushing is the second highest single game total in the SWAC this season.

Co-Defense - Adrian Hamilton (DE, Prairie View) / Kejuan Riley (DB, Alabama State)

Hamilton had 10 total tackles (8 solo), 4.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.5 sacks in PV's 20-7 loss at Alabama State. He leads the nation in both tackles-for-loss and sacks.

Riley had 14 total tackles (8 solo), 3 passes defended and an interception in ASU's 20-7 win over Prairie View.  He leads the nation in interceptions.

Newcomer - Joseph LeBeau (DL, Jackson State)

LeBeau had 12 total tackles (4 solo), 4.0 tackles-for-loss, and 1.0 sacks. The sack proved to be the game saving play forcing MVSU to kick a field goal and preserve JSU's 17-16 victory. He ranks second in the nation in both tackles-for-loss and sacks behind Hamilton.

Specialist - Montarius Smith (WR/KR, Alabama A&M)

Smith averaged 31.0 yards per kick return with a long of 47 in A&M's 24-21 victory over Texas Southern. He also caught 3 passes for 114 yards with a long of 72 yards.
