Jackson, Miss.(Courtesy of JSU Sports Information) - Jackson State University's Lisa Quinn and Raina Sanders were selected as members of the USTFCCCA 2009 Division I All-Academic Track and Field team.

Lisa Quinn, a native of Jackson, MS. competed four years on the JSU women's track team. She was a member of the 4x100m Relay team that qualified for the NCAA Regional Track meet. She was also a member of the 4x400m Relay team.

Raina Sanders, a native of Greenville, MS., had great accomplishments in her freshman season. She was the 2009 SWAC Indoor Champion in the 400m and the SWAC Outdoor Champion in the 400m with a time of 54.30. Raina played a vital role in the women's track team winning the outdoor championship. She qualified in three of four opening events and ran on two relays.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.

"It is very exciting to know that two members of the JSU women's track team were recognized, of the 531 student athletes, for their hard work off the field," said head coach Pauline Banks. "I hope that this will enlighten others to know that you can achieve in the class as well as on the field. I would also like to say thanks to both young ladies for doing a great job. This is a great accomplishment not only for the JSU Women's Track team, but for the Southwestern Athletic Conference as well."
