A total of 11 Southwestern Athletic Conference football players were named to the 2008 Sports Network All-America team.
Prairie View A&M LB Zach East earned first-team All-America honors, the lone SWAC representative on the first team. The senior, who was a first-team All-SWAC selection in both 2007 and 2008, was one of just 16 players nationally who were repeat selections from 2007 as a first, second, or third team All-America.
Two SWAC players were named second-team All-America, both on defense: DT Melvin Matthews of Grambling State, and CB Domonique Johnson of Jackson State.
Jackson State LB Marcellus Speaks, the 2008 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, was the only third team All-America selection from the conference.
Seven players earned honorable mention accolades: TE Abner Brown of Mississippi Valley State, K Jeremy Licea of Alabama A&M, PR William Osbourne of Texas Southern, DEs Ladarius Anthony of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Marcus Benard of Jackson State, LB Lee Robinson of Alcorn State, and CB Jeffery Jack of Grambling State.
