to come by down the stretch as the Pirates took a 20-7
win in the season opener for both programs.

John Merritt Classic
Redshirt freshman quarterback Harold Dorman came
off the bench to score the go-ahead touchdown while defensive
back Antonio Nelson added the insurance as the Bulldogs
snapped their season-opener losing streak with a 27-14
win over Tennessee State.
With 14 minutes remaining in regulation, Dorman
engineered an 11-play, 60-yard drive capped off with a
four-yard run to make the score 19-14 Alabama A&M.
The young quarterback then connected with wide receiver
Tedric Milton after a wild scramble to avoid the sack
to give the Bulldogs a 7-point lead with 8:31 remaining
in the game. The TSU Tigers had two possessions to tie
or take the lead, the first faltering after 14 plays and

A&M three plays and out, the Tigers had the ball with

back Nelson picked off a TSU attempt on the goal line
