  • Richard V. Stebbins was a record-setting sprinter and men’s track & field athlete at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), earning multiple All-SWAC and NAIA All-American honors.
  • He was part of the U.S. Olympic 4 × 100 m relay team that won gold and set a world record at the 1964 Tokyo Games.
  • In recognition of his extraordinary achievements and his lasting impact on SWAC track athletics, Stebbins was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2011.
