Richard V. Stebbins was a record-setting sprinter and men’s track & field athlete at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), earning multiple All-SWAC and NAIA All-American honors.
He was part of the U.S. Olympic 4 × 100 m relay team that won gold and set a world record at the 1964 Tokyo Games.
In recognition of his extraordinary achievements and his lasting impact on SWAC track athletics, Stebbins was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2011.
