He was team captain in his senior season. While at Southern, he competed alongside future NFL stars in the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference). Professional Career Osborne was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 7th round of the 1972 NFL Draft (182nd overall). He played his entire NFL career with the Bears, lasting 13 years. He recorded 81 sacks and 9 fumble recoveries in his career. He won the Brian Piccolo Award in his rookie year — an honor given to a Bears player who best exemplifies courage, loyalty, teamwork, and dedication.
