Biography & Early Life
  • Carol Cummings was born on 15 November 1949 (in Jamaica) and competed as a Jamaican sprinter.
  • She attended Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where she competed for the Lady Panthers in track & field
Collegiate Career at Prairie View A&M
  • At Prairie View A&M, Cummings developed into a record-setting sprinter, especially in the 100-yard/meter and 220-yard/200-meter events.
  • During her four years at PVAMU, the women’s track team won multiple championships — she was “one of eight women who won the first SWAC Indoor and Outdoor Championship for Prairie View.”
  • For example, in the 1976 collegiate season she ranked 4th in the 100 yards at the AIAW Outdoor Championships.
