Background & Education
  • Pete is a native of San Antonio, Texas.  
  • She attended Prairie View A&M University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration (1991) and a master’s degree in health (1998).
  • As a student-athlete, she played volleyball for the Lady Panthers from approximately 1987-1991, earning All-SWAC honors and being selected to the SWAC All-Tournament team in 1989 and 1990.
Athletic Career & Coaching
  • After graduation, she returned to PVAMU in 1997 as the head coach of the first Lady Panther Bowling team.  
  • In 1999, she became Head Volleyball Coach at PVAMU. Under her leadership:
    • The Lady Panthers won the SWAC Championship in 1999 (her first year) and made their first NCAA tournament appearance in program history.
    • They won another SWAC Championship in 2006 and earned a second NCAA tournament appearance.
  • For her success as coach, she was named SWAC Coach of the Year for each of those championship seasons.
