Edney Class Induction 1993 Sport(s) Administration Alcorn State Career at Alcorn State University Edney joined Alcorn State University in 1963 as a biology instructor. Over the years, he held multiple leadership positions at ASU: Chair of the Department of Biology. Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. Dean of Graduate Studies. Interim Dean of the School of Nursing. He served as Interim President of Alcorn State University from February 2010 to January 2011. He also served as Acting/Interim President again from December 2013 to March 2014. During his presidency interval, one of the key tasks was guiding ASU’s reaffirmation of accreditation in 2010. Other Leadership & Service Edney served as President of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) from 1979 to 1984.
