  • Willie Brown, born on December 2, 1940, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, is a celebrated athlete whose collegiate career at Grambling State University left a lasting mark on the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
  • From 1959 to 1963, Brown excelled as an outside linebacker in football and competed at a high level in track and field, earning All-SWAC honors in both sports.
  • Despite going undrafted, he went on to have a legendary professional career, most notably with the Oakland Raiders, where he became known for his ball-hawking skills, including a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XI.
  • In recognition of his exceptional collegiate achievements and contributions to SWAC athletics, Brown was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 1993.
