  • Career at Alcorn State University
    • Casem became head football coach at Alcorn State in 1964, after a stint at Alabama State University in 1963.
    • He also served as athletic director at Alcorn from 1966 to 1986.
    • Under his leadership, the Alcorn Braves achieved major success:
      • They won seven Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) football championships.
      • Won four Black College National Championships.
      • In 1984, his team went 9–1 (7–0 in conference) and was recognized as black college national champion.
    • He pushed for facility improvements at Alcorn — for example, the football stadium complex and other athletics infrastructure.
    • The university honor’s his legacy: the football stadium is named Jack Spinks–Marino Casem Stadium, reflecting his impact.
