  • Ralph A. Garr, Sr. was a standout baseball player at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) whose collegiate and professional accomplishments earned him induction into the SWAC Hall of Fame.
  • During his time at Grambling, Garr batted an impressive .585 in his senior collegiate season, leading the nation, while his team posted a 351 regular season record.
  • He went on to play professionally for the Atlanta Braves and other major league clubs, winning the National League batting title in 1974 and earning an AllStar selection that same year. Garr was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame as part of the 2018 class.
