  • Frank H. Pitts was born November 12, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • He attended S.H. Archer High School in Atlanta.
  • He played college football at Southern University from 1961 to 1964.
  • At Southern University (an HBCU), he earned the nickname “Mr. Wonderful” for his athletic ability and character.
Professional Career
  • He was drafted in 1965: by the AFL’s Kansas City Chiefs (4th round, 32nd overall) and by the NFL’s Chicago Bears (16th round, 213rd overall).
  • He played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1965-1970, then for the Cleveland Browns from 1971-1973, and finally a stint with the Oakland Raiders in 1974.
  • Some career stats: 175 receptions, 2,897 receiving yards, 27 touchdowns
