  • Tommy L. Green was a standout basketball player and coach at Southern University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
  • As a four-year starter from 1974 to 1978, he scored over 1,000 points, helped lead the Jaguars to a SWAC regular-season co-championship as senior team captain, and earned All-SWAC honors.
  • After being selected in the second round of the 1978 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Jazz, Green returned to Southern as an assistant coach and later served as head coach from 1996 to 2000, compiling a 74-64 record.
  • In recognition of his contributions to Southern basketball and his impact within the SWAC, Tommy L. Green was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2016.
