  • Jackie Slater was a standout offensive tackle at Jackson State University in the SWAC, where he was selected to the SWAC All-Star Game three times. He was drafted in the third round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams and played 20 seasons with the franchise, setting a record for most seasons with one team by an offensive lineman and retiring with 259 games played.
  • A seven-time Pro Bowler and first-ballot inductee into the Pro-Football Hall of Fame in 2001, Slater’s body of work is one of the most accomplished among SWAC alumni in professional football.
