Young, Roynell Young, Willie Younger, Paul " Tank" Willis Reed Class Induction 1994 Sport(s) Men's Basketball Grambling State Willis Reed was a dominant basketball player at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), where he earned All-SWAC and All-American honors while leading the Tigers to multiple conference championships and a 1961 NAIA national title. After graduating in 1964, he went on to a Hall of Fame NBA career with the New York Knicks, becoming a two-time NBA Champion, seven-time All-Star, and the 1970 NBA MVP. Reed is forever remembered for his iconic return in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, which helped lift the Knicks to victory. In recognition of his extraordinary collegiate success and his lasting impact on SWAC athletics, Willis Reed was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame.
