  • Jones was born on December 9, 1938, in Eatonville, Florida.
  • He attended high school at Hungerford High School (Orlando, FL).
  • His college path: he began at South Carolina State University in 1958, had a year of inactivity in 1959, then played his final collegiate season at Mississippi Vocational College (now MVSU) in 1960.
