Background & Education
  • Dr. Fisher is a native of Houston, Texas, raised in the Missouri City area.
  • She graduated from Texas Southern University (TSU) with a BBA in Business Management in 1995.
  • She went on to earn a master’s in health education in 2000, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007.

Athletic & Coaching Career
  • At TSU, Dr. Fisher played as a walk-on volleyball athlete at the age of 17.
  • She served as the head volleyball coach at TSU from 1994 to 2010 (approximately 17 seasons).
  • During her coaching tenure, she led the team to three Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) volleyball titles.
  • She also briefly coached women’s basketball at TSU for one season, while still leading volleyball
Administrative and Academic Roles
  • Dr. Fisher currently holds the title of Assistant Athletic Director / Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at TSU.
  • In her SWA role, she advises TSU’s athletics department on gender-equity issues, represents TSU in SWAC and NCAA committees focused on women’s intercollegiate athletics, and advocates for women’s teams.
  • She also serves as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator for TSU’s athletics department.
  • On the academic side, she has been a professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology & Sport Studies, and previously served as Interim Associate Provost and Associate VP for Academic Affairs at TSU.
