Early Life & College
  • Leslie Frazier was born on April 3, 1959, in Columbus, Mississippi.
  • He attended Stephen D. Lee High School in Columbus where he earned nine varsity letters playing football, basketball and baseball.
  • He enrolled at Alcorn State University (ASU), playing for the Braves football program from 1978-1980.
    • In 1978: Intercepted 6 passes, recorded 62 tackles.
    • In 1979: Set a school-record with 9 interceptions, added 26 pass breakups, 44 tackles; helped the Braves capture the SWAC title.
    • In 1980: Recorded 5 interceptions, 49 tackles, 14 punts returned (1 return for TD).
  • At Alcorn he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
  • He was ranked No. 16 on ASU’s list of the Top 50 greatest football players in school history.
  • Honors: Inducted into ASU Hall of Fame (2012) and into the Black College Football Hall of Fame (Class of 2023).
Professional Playing Career
  • Despite his college success, Frazier was undrafted in the 1981 NFL Draft.
  • He signed with the Chicago Bears as a rookie free agent and played for them from 1981-1985.
  • Part of the legendary 1985 Bears team that won Super Bowl XX.
  • His playing career ended prematurely due to a severe knee injury sustained during the Super Bowl.
Coaching & Later Career
  • After his playing days, Frazier transitioned into coaching, beginning at the college level, then moving to the NFL.
  • He served as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings from 2010-2013.
  • He most recently was the defensive coordinator & assistant head coach of the Buffalo Bills (stepping away for the 2023 season).
