  • Jefferson began his tenure at Jackson State University in 1973 as a staff writer in the Public Information Office.
  • In 1974, he was promoted to Sports Information Director (SID) at JSU, becoming the university’s first person to hold that title.
  • He held the position for nearly 29 years during which he significantly developed JSU’s sports communication, media relations, and promotional presence.
Achievements & Honors
  • He was inducted into the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Hall of Fame in 2014.
  • He was inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hall of Fame in 2008 under the administration category for Jackson State media.
