  • Public Relations Director at Grambling State University:
    Nicholson served from 1948 to 1977, during which he helped elevate Grambling’s athletic programs — particularly its football team under Coach Eddie Robinson — to national and even international prominence.
  • Created the Bayou Classic:
    Nicholson conceived and promoted the Bayou Classic, the annual football game between Grambling State University and Southern University.
    It became (and remains) one of the most iconic HBCU sports events in the country, televised nationally and celebrated for its athletic competition and cultural significance.
