  • William Brown was a highly respected track and field coach at Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) who made a lasting impact on the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
  • He served at MVSU from 1968 to 1997 and guided the Delta Devils to back-to-back NAIA outdoor track national championships in 1980 and 1981—the university’s first ever national titles.
  • In recognition of his decades of service and success, Brown was posthumously inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2017.
