  • Sammie White was a standout wide receiver at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), earning First-Team All-SWAC honors in 1973 and 1975 and finishing his senior season with 37 catches for 802 yards and 17 touchdowns.
  • He was selected in the second round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and went on to enjoy a productive professional career, including two Pro Bowl selections.
  • In recognition of his outstanding collegiate achievements and his lasting impact on SWAC football, Sammie White was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2004.
