Greenwood was a standout defensive end at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (then Arkansas AM&N) in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), earning Ebony All-American honors in 1968. After college, he was drafted in the tenth round of the 1969 NFL Draft and went on to a remarkable career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning six Pro Bowl selections and winning four Super Bowl championships as a key member of the legendary “Steel Curtain” defense. In recognition of his collegiate achievements and lasting influence on SWAC athletics, Greenwood was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2004.
