  • Larry Wright was a standout men’s basketball player at Grambling State University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), where he played from 1973 to 1976, was named SWAC Freshman of the Year in 1974, earned multiple All-SWAC selections, and was named SWAC Player of the Year during the Tigers’ 1976 championship season. He was selected in the first round of the 1976 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets, won an NBA Championship in 1978, and also had a successful career in Europe.
  • In recognition of his outstanding collegiate achievements and lasting impact on SWAC basketball, Wright was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2005.
