He went on to a stellar professional career in the NFL, recording 57 career interceptions, leading the league three times (1981, 1982, 1985), earning four Pro Bowl selections and winning a Super Bowl with the New York Giants. In recognition of his extraordinary collegiate achievements and lasting impact on SWAC football, Walls was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2006.
