  • He was inducted into PVAMU’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1989, listed under Men’s Basketball and Tennis.
  • According to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), during his time at PVAMU:
    • He won three SWAC Tennis Championships in 1958, 1960 and 1961.
    • He also won three SWAC doubles championships in 1958, 1959 and 1960.
    • He captured the A.T.A. National Intercollegiate Singles Championship in 1960.
    • He was named to the All-SWAC team from 1957–1960.
    • He was voted Most Outstanding Athlete at PVAMU in 1961.
    • He holds the record for “Most Consecutive Singles Won” with 20 (in 1957).
  • At PVAMU he also played men’s basketball as a guard while being an honor student.
