  • Charley Granger was an outstanding two-way lineman and track athlete at Southern University in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), earning All-SWAC honors in football in 1959 and 1960, as well as All-SWAC recognition in track for shot put and discus.
  • He played a key role in Southern’s 1960 Black College National Championship team before going on to a professional career in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals.
  • In recognition of his exceptional collegiate achievements and his impact on SWAC athletics, Granger was inducted into the SWAC Hall of Fame in 2010.
