SWAC Baseball Final Score: Bethune-Cookman 9, Alabama State 8

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Bethune-Cookman’s Jorge Rodriguez drove in three runs while leading the Wildcats scoring attack in a 9-8 win over Alabama State on Thursday at Rickwood Field.
 
B-CU took a 7-0 advantage after the first three innings of play before Alabama State chipped away at the Wildcats lead and eventually took an 8-7 advantage in the game in the top half of the seventh inning.

Bethune-Cookman’s scores two runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to reclaim the lead for good. Alabama State’s Caleb Sanders was tagged with the loss as he pitched 5.1 innings while allowing five hits and an earned run.

BCU’s Yoansell Diaz picked up the win allowing one hit and no runs. Alabama State’s Juan Cruz drove in three runs for the Hornets. As a team Bethune-Cookman collected 13 hits during the game while ASU tallied nine hits.
