Texas Southern Claims 3-2 Win Over Prairie View A&M

ATLANTA, Ga.- The Texas Southern Tigers advanced to the next round of the 2024 SWAC Baseball Tournament after defeating Prairie View A&M 3-2 in an elimination game.

Texas Southern’s Tyler Williams, Jaden Jones, and Shannon Martin each drove in runs for the Tigers.

PVAMU tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the eighth inning. Texas Southern would push a run across home plate in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.

Prairie View A&M’s Garrison Weiss and Paul Castro each drove in one run for the Panthers. PVAMU’s Victor Mendoza was credited with the loss after pitching two innings and giving up one earned run.

Texas Southern’s Isaac Garcia picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers after pitching 1.1 innings and allowing no runs.

TSU will face the loser of the Bethune-Cookman versus Jackson State game.
